Have a question about a setup step or an error message? We're happy to help. Here is what you can ask about, and how to get the clearest answer.

What you can ask about

You can send us questions about any of the topics we cover, and about similar everyday tech tasks. For example:

  • Setting up a new device, such as a printer, a cutting machine, a streaming box or a satellite internet kit.
  • Downloading and installing an app on a computer, phone or tablet.
  • Activating a subscription or linking a device to your online account.
  • Redeeming a gift card or entering a code shown on your TV.
  • Understanding an error message and what to try next.
  • Suggesting a topic you would like us to write a new guide about.

What to include in your message

A few simple details help us understand your question quickly and give you steps that fit your situation:

  1. The app or device. Tell us its name, and the model or version if you know it. It also helps to say what you are using it on, such as a Windows computer, a Mac, an iPhone, an Android phone or a smart TV.
  2. What you were trying to do. Describe the task in your own words, for example “connect my printer to Wi-Fi” or “sign in to the app on my TV”. If you were following one of our guides, tell us which step you reached.
  3. The exact message you saw. If an error or warning appeared, copy the words exactly as they were shown, including any error number or code. The exact wording often points straight to the cause.

What to expect after you send a message

We read every message. You can usually expect a reply within one to two business days. Our answer will be written in the same plain, step-by-step style as our guides, so you can follow along at your own pace.

If we need a little more detail to help, we will ask a short follow-up question. Some steps, such as activating a product or managing a paid account, can only be finished on the brand's own website, so our reply will point you to the right place to complete them.

Common questions may also become new guides on the blog, so other people with the same problem can find the answer too.
